Description of the item:
Beautiful oil painting on wood, depicting a seascape with boats moored on the shore and fishermen sleeping on the sand under the boats. Created and signed by Neapolitan painter Domenico Chianese. On the back there is also the stamp of an art gallery that probably sold the work in the past and a scroll attached with staples containing some biographical information about the painter. Note the particular color palette used by the painter, all tending towards various shades of ochre or earth tones, very warm and with a veil of yellow that deliberately 'smudges' the entire work. His paintings all have more or less this flavor.

Useful information for evaluating the item:
From our internet research, we found a painting by the same artist listed at €300-500. We then found two others, very similar in terms of the color palette used, one depicting a farmer with two horses and another depicting a seascape with boats, priced at €500-900 per painting in 2015. Finally, we found another one, offered by an auction house in 2024, estimated at €300-400, depicting harvesters. This is to give an idea of the value of the works created by this Neapolitan painter.

Information about the artist and/or manufacturer:
Domenico Chianese was an artist from Campania, born in Villaricca in 1924 and died in Marano in 2002. He can be considered one of the leading figures in social painting in the Neapolitan area. In fact, his work is linked to popular themes, inspired by work and everyday life.
