Kazuhide Takahama, a Japanese-born, Italian-inspired designer, was inspired by the ancient memory of taking care of the furniture in holiday mansions by covering them with fabrics during the long winter months. The Mantilla’s name comes references the mantle in which it covers.
Takahama’s work is a design fusion between the east and west with a suggestion of modernism.
The sofa has a plywood base and a polyurethane foam structure covered with an off white velvet fabric, that has a kind of boucle rib in it. I'm not sure if this is still the original upholstery. If desired it will be very easy to change the fabric to your wishes.
