This painting titled “Reels” was recently uncovered in the artist's storage facility; previously thought to be missing or destroyed. While much of the artist's output during this period leaned towards sculpture, video, and installation art, space constraints led to the unfortunate demise of many pieces.
"Reels" encapsulates a romantic nostalgia for the unique allure of retro tech. Through a masterful interplay of dark and light cool tones, the painting evokes a sense of moody contemplation. Shades of Payne's grey mingle with high-contrast areas of black and white, while warmer neutrals in tan and beige add depth and warmth to the composition.

Ready to hang; includes solid wood frame as pictured.
Painting is acrylic, graphite, oil on canvas, on heavy duty stretcher bars. Original condition; this is a handmade artwork and all marks/ smudges are part of the artmaking process and intended to remain part of the artwork.

About the artist: Amanda Andersen has been working for over 10 years as a professional artist; working mostly in acrylic paint on canvas. Her work balances minimal compositions with bold, high-contrast patterns and vibrant colors, navigating a space between the abstract and figurative. Inspired by the rigid lines of Agnes Martin and organic forms of Eva Hesse, she also adores fantasy films, surrealism, brutalist architecture and a really smooth gradient. Her work has shown internationally, including: the Kunstraum Kreuzberg in Berlin, Tiny Creatures in Los Angeles, the National Centre for Contemporary Arts State Museum in St Petersburg.
