A vintage cast bronze wall plaque or medallion depicting the classical scene of Hippocrates lecturing under a plane tree in Kos, Greece, executed in bas-relief, in a Brutalist style prevalent in German (often ecclesiastical) artistic metalwork from the 1950s onwards. It was designed by German sculptor, Prof. Fritz Nuss (1907-1999) in 1980, and produced by the historic Buderus foundry, and released under the Thomae brand.
It hangs by an integrated loop to the verso.
Signed ‘1981 – Thomae’. This piece has an attribution mark,
