Circular portrait on green ground with text intervention, exploring visual representation, legibility, and symbolic value in the context of identity and origin. Currency #268 is an acrylic painting on a circular pine wood panel (26 cm diameter, 2 cm depth), part of Natasha Lelenco’s ongoing series Monedas de Cambio (I am sorry, I am not from here). Each work in the series adopts the form of a coin, functioning simultaneously as a portrait and a conceptual token referencing systems of value, mobility, and social perception. This panel features a right-facing female figure, rendered in pink and violet tones against a solid green background. Around the edge, the inscription appears partially struck through or rendered unreadable—introducing a deliberate act of redaction. This gesture signals a conceptual emphasis on erasure, misrepresentation, or silenced narratives, themes recurrent throughout the artist’s broader body of work. All works in the series are conceived for individual display or as part of adaptable wall installations. Their modular format allows for spatial and thematic expansion. Prices within the series are variable, referencing the systemic disparities associated with race, origin, and context. In addition, each piece may serve as an exchangeable element in future projects by the artist. Collectors acquiring multiple works receive special pricing, reinforcing the layered and cumulative logic of the series.
