Fontana Arte is an Italian company founded in Milan in 1932 by Luigi Fontana and Giò Ponti and specialized in glass processing and the production of furnishing accessories. It is known for the processing of curved glass and for the production of lighting equipment, becoming over the years a prominent name in Italian design.
In 1930, the collaboration between Luigi Fontana and Giò Ponti, then artistic director at Richard Ginori, began. Ponti, in 1931, was called to the artistic direction of the company and designed some lamps for Fontana including the 0024 and the Bilia. with the increase in demand for artistic crystal products, a sector where the Italian company was increasingly expanding thanks to the artistic partnership between the two Milanese creatives, in 1933 Ponti and Fontana founded Fontana Arte, a real company division specialized in the creation of artistic crystal elements.
from here on, Pietro Chiesa first and then Max Ingrand will give life to authentic masterpieces making Fontana Arte the most important glass company in the world.
