Alfred Crowquill was the pseudonym for Alfred Henry Forrester, an author, comic artist and illustrator, who was one of the first artists to contribute to Punch (1841–4).The drawing is deftly coloured in watercolour wash; oblique beams of pale yellow light are cast beyond the heavily inked archway, aptly providing a dramatic sense of dark and light.On cream paper.All artworks come with a Certificate of Authenticity and—if it is a collection artwork—its accompanying collection text or artist biography. Signed: Signed lower left. Inscribed: Inscribed upper left. There is a small stamp on the verso with the motto 'Tenax in Fide'.
