Monachesi was an Italian painter and sculptor who founded the “Futurist Movement in the Marche” in 1932. It was the beginning of an intense period of artistic production. After the futurist experience, he projected his research into figurative elaboration through large chromatic planes and contour lines that characterize his painting in the 1940s and 1950s.
The painting in question shows a view of a glimpse of the city made with large monochrome color fields, spread with a spatula, and black lines that delimit the contours of the buildings.
The artist's signature is present at the bottom right of the painting: “MONACHESI”.
