This vintage 5x8 Persian kilim is a mid-century Qashqai tribal rug, handwoven in wool circa 1950-1960.
On the Design:
This exuberant mid-century Persian Jajim kilim is a striking example of tribal geometry in motion. Bold vertical bands alternate in vivid shades of terracotta red, crimson red, white, blue, orange, and green tones—each filled with jagged, serrated motifs that zigzag rhythmically from top to bottom. The brilliance of this kilim lies not only in its striking geometry but also in its structure. This Jajim-style kilim is composed of multiple narrow panels meticulously joined together—a technique typical of Qashqai tribal weavers who used portable looms. Despite being composed of segments, the pattern alignment is seamless, a testament to the technical mastery involved. Its bright palette and folkloric charm make it an ideal fit for eclectic, rustic, or contemporary settings alike. Whether styled as a floor covering, draped over a sofa, or hung as textile art, this kilim infuses its surroundings with heritage, character, and artisanal charm.
Condition:
This mid-century Persian Kilim further enjoys good condition for its age and origin, and is ready for the floor.
