lIthograph poster after Steinlen .He was a cat lover, and the animals appeared in his drawings, posters and paintings throughout his career. Two of his posters, Lait pur Sterilise and Chat Noir, justifiably rank among the most famous turn-of-the-century images of cats. The artist's Winter Cat (the cat in this poster) and Summer Cat panels were commissioned by Sagot in the same year. Based in Montmartre, Paris, Steinlen frequented the Le Chat Noir cabaret. There he met Toulouse Lautrec, Adolphe Willette and Aristide Bruant. He was hired to create a lithograph for a The Black Cat ensemble.
