A vivid mid-century modernist abstract landscape, executed in oil onto canvas.

The composition captures the dynamic energy of a frozen waterway winding through a snowy terrain beneath a dramatic sky. The artist has used broad, expressive brushstrokes and a striking palette to evoke the chill of winter and the fleeting glow of sunset.

The sky dominates the composition, rendered in bold swathes of blue and overlaid with dashes of fiery orange, crimson, and yellow, suggesting a sun just dipped below the horizon. Below, the frozen river curves with movement, painted in cool whites and icy blues, while gestural patches of green, orange, and brown represent trees and terrain along the banks. A structure and a vivid red form – perhaps a vehicle or boat – add subtle focal points within the composition.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary gilt frame. The painting is in excellent vintage condition. There is a small loss to upper corner of frame as shown, but it is otherwise in very good condition.
