This vintage mid century modern gray Model 3475 Eames Time Life Lobby Chair designed by Charles & Ray Eames for Herman Miller was manufactured in 1978. This classic desk chair features unique gray velvet upholstery and a silver four-star cast aluminum swivel base with black rolling casters. The comfortable, contoured ergonomic design features thick, plush cushions, swivel seat and adjustable height and backrest tilt. An adaptation of the commissioned 'Lobby Chairs' for the Time Life building in New York, the 1960 release of the Time Life Lounge Chair brought the chair to the broader public of homes, offices, conference rooms and lobbies all over the US and internationally. Model 3475 introduced later in the 1960s has the width and laid back comfort and swivel of the 675 model with added height and tilt adjustability. This iconic and collectible desk chair has become the gold-standard and perfect for home or office use. Chair date stamped Nov 21, 1978 with Herman Miller label to underside.
CONDITION
Very good vintage condition with wear consistent with age and use. Patina to metal frame and base expected with age over time. Velvet fabric very likely reupholstered and not original to chair.
