Michael Thonet perfected the bentwood technique to create a line of chairs and stools that define the look of European cafe culture. Walk into any number of restaurants in New York, Paris, Vienna, and Prague and you will recognize the shapely, sturdy chairs made by Ton, model 763.

Made of beechwood in the Czech Republic and distributed in the US by Design Within Reach (DWR) when originally purchased in the 1990s. The provenance of the stools is stamped on the bottom of some of the chairs. Reference pictures for more detail.

The chairs feature decorative curved wood at the base of the seat on all four sides. For sale by the original owner. The chairs were originally a dark walnut stain. They were painted glossy black in the 2000s.

CONDITION:

The chairs are in very good condition, exhibiting wear with their expected age and use. Some scuffs on the chair legs and bottoms, only noticeable close up. See less
