This work, Currency #267, is a hand-painted acrylic portrait on a round pine wood panel, 26 cm in diameter and 2 cm thick. The piece belongs to the ongoing series Monedas de Cambio (I am sorry, I am not from here) by Natasha Lelenco, a project examining personal and collective value systems through coin-like portraits that commemorate lived experience. Set against a saturated blue ground, the figure is softly modeled in purple and magenta tones, facing in profile. Around the edge, a circular inscription in Galician reads: “Non foi doado, pero valeu a pena” (“It wasn’t easy, but it was worth it”), transforming the work into a token of endurance and self-affirmation. Executed in acrylic with a luminous, layered finish, the panel is conceived to work either individually or as part of a scalable wall installation. Each unit in the series interlocks conceptually and visually, forming adaptable groupings tailored to space and narrative.
