A limited-edition work, limited to five-hundred copies, of which this is numbered one-hundred and sixty-six. Tracing the history of chintz from the earliest times to the 1930s, this work is an ode to the art. Chintz is a woodblock printed, painted, or strained calico textile, the cloth printed with designs often featuring flowers in different colours, typically on a light plain background cloth. Chintz originated in Golconda, present day Hyderabad in India, in the sixteenth century. Illustrated with a tipped-in frontispiece, and one-hundred and fifty-one tipped-in plates. By Frank Lewis.
