The painting depicts a sad scene set in a picturesque mountain landscape. In the center, two women, probably Psyche and her sister, embrace in an emotional farewell. Psyche, wrapped in a flowing white dress, appears distraught as she prepares to leave. Her sister, adorned in a golden dress, reflects her grief. On the left, a figure wrapped in a rich red robe, probably Psyche's father, stands with his head bowed in sorrow. Behind the sisters, another female figure, perhaps another sister, raises her hand in a gesture of despair.
