Fisherman's Bounty Edited by Nick Lyons (1971, Hardcover) Lying is an important part of the fishing experience. There’s much more to it than knowing that “my fish is bigger than your fish” simply because even if it isn’t then lying is a speedy and artful way to fix all that. As I reflect back on my 50 plus years as a salt water fisherman, I have to confess that the size and the quantity of the fish I claimed to have caught were probably a bit less than what actually came out of the water. It does make me feel good, to know that I’m not alone and that it’s a human trait that’s happened with enough regularity throughout the Millennia to be characterized with a societal label called “a fish story.” See less
