In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Japan had a notable history of exporting porcelain chocolate pots and other wares to North America. These chocolate pots often featured beautiful hand-painted designs and were sold as collectible items as well as functional serving pieces.
While the "golden age" of hot chocolate had passed by the early 20th century, these Japanese chocolate pots remained popular for a time, sometimes used for tea instead of hot chocolate.
