Surrounding the figure is an inscription in Galician: “Seguimos adiante, imperfectas pero imparables” (“We keep going, imperfect but unstoppable”), a phrase that emphasizes collective strength, vulnerability and the ongoing negotiation of identity—particularly within the context of migration and gendered experience. Part of the artist’s ongoing Currencies series, the piece subverts the conventional function of the coin by replacing national emblems with anonymous, emotionally charged portraits. The face, detailed and serene, is painted with fine textural waves and sculptural clarity, suggesting memory, continuity, and quiet resistance.
