Majestic and spectacular, this dining table made by Vivai del Sud represents one of the most refined expressions of Italian decorative design of the 1980s.
The result of top-level artisan production, it is characterized by a sculptural base made entirely of curved Italian cane and lacquered in an intense coral red shade, which enhances its organic forms and complex workmanship.
The design of the base develops with great theatricality: four curved and slender arms rise fluidly from a square base, opening outwards like plant stems, in a gesture that recalls flowering or botanical architecture.
Each element is marked by a careful vertical rhythm given by the arrangement of the canes, which creates a fascinating play of light and shadow on the surface.
The base itself is finished with the same attention, with perfectly shaped corner joints and continuous connections.
The upper surface is made of transparent tempered glass, square in shape with rounded corners, designed to enhance the underlying structure and amplify its sculptural effect. The combination of glass and natural lacquered cane generates a visual balance of great elegance, where lightness combines with the expressive power of the material.
This piece, rare on the market, perfectly embodies the unmistakable style of Vivai del Sud: a visual language that blends Mediterranean craftsmanship, colonial suggestions and a taste for the exotic in a sophisticated way.
Ideal as a dining table or centerpiece in environments with a strong character, it also lends itself to being inserted into interior projects with great personality, between modernism and tropical decorativism.
Excellent general condition with tiny signs of aging given the originality.

Vivai del Sud is a historic brand of Italian design founded in Rome in the 1950s by the brothers Giorgio, Gianfranco and Piero Di Pierri, originally from Puglia. Initially born as a studio specializing in landscape design and restoration of historic gardens and parks, the brand has evolved over the decades to become a point of reference in the field of interior design as well. Since the 1970s, Vivai del Sud has started producing handcrafted furniture and furnishings with a sophisticated and exotic taste, blending Mediterranean elegance with colonial and oriental influences. Their pieces stand out for their refined use of natural materials such as cane, bamboo, rattan, glass, lacquered wood and brass, often handcrafted into organic and scenic shapes that recall nature, tropical architecture and the traditional craftsmanship of Southern Italy. The company's stylistic code is strongly decorative, but always measured and cultured, with a visual language capable of dialoguing with both European modernism and more exotic and narrative atmospheres. Today, Vivai del Sud furniture is highly appreciated on the international vintage design and collectibles market, especially for its originality, executive quality and unrepeatability, making it iconic pieces of great charm and value.
