Set of 6 Niels Otto Møller Chairs in Wood, Denmark, 1960's This set of six Model 78 dining chairs by Niels Otto Møller has just come out of restoration and they turned out beautifully. The wood has been carefully sanded back and treated with two layers of Osmo oil, which brings out a deep, warm glow and highlights the grain in a subtle but striking way. The finish feels soft to the touch, almost satin-like, and the overall impression is one of quiet luxury. Møller’s design is all about balance—between elegance and strength, between comfort and line. The backrest curves gently to follow the spine, and the arm-free frame keeps the silhouette clean and open. The joints are seamless, with soft sculptural knees where the back legs meet the seat, and the front legs taper down into sharp, refined feet. There’s something horn-like in the shape of the upper frame, and from certain angles the chairs feel almost like figures—light, poised, and slightly animated. One chair is already woven in Danish paper cord and can be used as it is. The other five have been left open so the buyer can choose the finish—either the original Danish cord or black leather for a more tailored look. We can take care of the reupholstery, of course. All six chairs are marked underneath. They date from the 1960's and are made from a dense, dark wood, rich in colour and full of natural variation. We also have two matching armchairs available if someone wants to make it a set of eight. Møller chairs are often described as classics, but this model in particular—Model 78—feels especially well-resolved. It’s light but grounded, simple but with just enough detail to hold the eye. These are chairs that work in all kinds of interiors, and they carry their age gracefully. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
