Zdzisław Lachur (born on July 14, 1920 in Zagórz , died December 29, 2007 in Warsaw ) - Polish painter and graphic artist, founder of the first Polish label of drawing movies in Bielsko-Biała .
In the years 1945-1950 he studied painting and graphics at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow . He was a pupil of prof. Eugene Eibisch . The artist's works were presented at collective and individual exhibitions at home and abroad, including in Jerusalem , London , New York , Stuttgart , Paris , Vancouver and Toronto . Lachur's paintings were in possession of, among others, George Harrison , former US lady Jacqueline Kennedy and singer Barbra Streisand . In recognition of his achievements in painting and graphics, in 1961 he received the Minister of Culture and Art Award for lifetime achievement, and in 1979 he was awarded the medal of the Israeli Institute Yad Vashem in recognition of his work devoted to the Jewish people.
one of a number of great Polish jewish artists that included Arbit Blatas, Judyta Sobel, Jacques Zucker, Henryk Berlewi, Jacob Epstein, Itshak Holtz and Arthur Szyk, amongst many others. In 1955 he took part in the Young Art Exhibition at the Warsaw Arsenal, presenting on it a painting and drawings on Jewish and occupation topics. This topic has been dominating in his work since. Performances of the Holocaust, battles in the Warsaw ghetto, as well as characteristic ritual motifs and Jewish types make up a great cycle of expressive, dramatic painting and drawing works. The artist's interests also included biblical motifs, and from the 80s also threads from the life of Christ, Mary, and apostles. At the same time, he addressed topics such as dynamic images of horses and social problems, such as alcoholism and prostitution. The artist exhibited a lot, his works are represented in numerous museums, especially those related to the memory of war and extermination, such as the Jewish Historical Institute and the Polish Army Museum in Warsaw, the Yad Vashem Institute in Jerusalem, the Haifa Museum, the Museum of Modern Art in New York , Museum of the Holocaust in Paris.
He spent the last years of his life in a nursing home in Warsaw's Anin
