A pair of antique early 20th century Qing Dynasty chests in elm wood with hand wrought brass hardware. These were imported to the United States many decades ago and stripped of their original cinnabar paint to highlight the natural grain, but the rich mineral color can still be seen in their interiors.
Although likely manufactured in the same village or region, one cabinet is slightly different in size than the other. One measures 37" wide x 22.75" deep x 37" high. The other measures 37" wide x 24.75" deep x 35.5" high.
