He fought in the French Resistance movement against the Nazis, but was arrested and sent to a prison camp. After he was freed, he studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He soon became recognized in Paris for his melding of Eastern and European styles. In 1966 Lebadang had his first US exhibition at the Cincinatti Art Museum. Lebadang is best known for his densely textured mixed-media paintings of molded pasteboard, limestone, and pigment on burlap or canvas surfaces. He works in abstraction and his representational work contains images of mostly horses and nature. See less
