Dreamlike work, full moon over the sea the work is not signed but was exhibited at the museum of contemporary art in rovereto, the mart, for a monographic exhibition - thayaht futurista irregular - 2005 published in the catalogue (see photographs) frame 1940s thayaht (ernesto michaelles) born in florence on 21 august 1893 (died 1959) in 1915 he devoted himself to artistic research. In 1920, together with his brother ram, he designed and launched the “tuta”, a universal suit for everyone, through the daily newspaper “la nazione”. In this year he also coined his pseudonym, the palindrome tayat, which was soon changed to thayaht. From 1929 he published his drawings in moda, the official magazine of the national fascist federation of the clothing industry and in the same year, in may, he was introduced to filippo tommaso marinetti by primo conti. It was marinetti himself who, enthusiastic about some of his works including the steel-iron effigy of the duce, dux, introduced him to mussolini who received him shortly after. On that occasion thayaht donated the sculpture to the duce, which was originally an attempt to depict the human effigy in the most synthetic way possible, but the sculpture's enormous resemblance to the duce led the artist to reconsider the subject. In october of the same year he presented himself at the exhibition "trentatré futuristi" at the galleria pesaro in milan with three sculptures and fifteen paintings. In 1930 he participated in the international exhibition of barcelona, which earned him the gold medal for the creation of "thayahttite", an aluminum and silver alloy patented by him. In the meantime he was invited to the xii international art biennial of venice, where he exhibited six sculptures in the futurist room. He also participated in the international exhibition of the goldsmith, where he presented a display case with jewelry in silver and steel alloy. In 1931 he was invited to the i quadriennale d’arte nazionale in rome and in february he organized, with his friend the painter antonio marasco, the futurist exhibition of painting, sculpture, aeropainting and decorative arts at the galleria d’arte firenze, introduced in the catalogue by marinetti. In the same year, with his brother ruggero, he edited a document on functional architecture “patent for casolaria – the houses in series”. He also discussed futurist sculpture with ezra pound, indicating in the trajective a new formula for representing solids in motion in three dimensions. In 1932 he was invited again to the international art biennale in venice. He also developed, together with his brother, the manifesto for the transformation of men’s clothing. In 1934 and 1936 he participated again in the venice art biennale. After 1945 he turned his themes to the tahitian figures of paul gauguin, whom he rediscovered as a “great colourist” and a symbolic painter in search of a simple life at the origins of the world, creating thayahtian transformations of his works, as a “liberation from miserable civilisation”. In 1945 he began to study science and astronomy in depth and to take an interest in ufology; in 1954 he founded the c.i.r.n.o.s., independent centre for research, news, space observations. From 1956 to 1959 he studied his esoteric studies more systematically. He died in marina di pietrasanta (lucca) on 29 april 1959. He is buried in florence, in the allori cemetery.
