The scene features a stiking display of beautiful pink tinged white peonies surrounded by sweet williams sitting on a tablesurrounded by a pipe and tobacco by reading material set against a striated blue background. Signed and dated 1939 on the reverse of the canvas by the swedish artist Gideon Borje (1891-1965) who travelled extensively in europe throughout his career and was known for his modernist style and classic traditions. A lovely addition to an interior. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
