A rare and highly sculptural model 8260 table lamp produced by boréns borås, sweden, during the 1950s. Designed to function equally as a table lamp or wall-mounted light, this versatile model exemplifies the refined engineering and architectural aesthetic that established boréns as one of sweden's leading lighting manufacturers during the post-war period.
the lamp features a beautifully proportioned conical spun aluminium shade finished in its original deep crimson-red lacquer, with a white-painted interior to maximise light reflection. Precision-cut diamond-shaped perforations encircle the lower section of the shade, creating an attractive decorative pattern of light when illuminated while adding visual lightness to the design.
the adjustable shade is supported by a slender solid brass stem incorporating a pivot joint, allowing the light to be directed precisely where required. The distinctive v-shaped cast iron base, finished in matching red lacquer and raised on elegant brass feet, provides excellent stability and incorporates an integrated hanging point, enabling the lamp to be mounted securely on the wall if desired.
model 8260 is one of boréns' best-known multifunctional designs from the 1950s. Like many boréns lighting models of the period, it was marketed under the company's own name rather than that of an individual designer, reflecting the firm's emphasis on quality manufacturing and in-house design rather than designer attribution.

about boréns borås
based in borås, sweden, boréns was one of the country's foremost lighting manufacturers throughout the mid-twentieth century. The company became renowned for its exceptional metalworking, innovative engineering, and elegant scandinavian design language. Rather than promoting individual designers, boréns generally marketed its lighting under the company name, with many of its most celebrated models—including the 8200 series—remaining unattributed today. Original boréns lighting is increasingly appreciated for its robust construction, refined detailing, and timeless architectural character.
a rare and highly versatile example of swedish mid-century lighting, the model 8260 combines sculptural form, practical functionality, and exceptional craftsmanship. Its distinctive perforated shade, rich crimson finish, and elegant brass detailing make it a superb addition to any scandinavian modern interior or serious vintage lighting collection.
