this mid-century painting is everything: bold, juicy brushstrokes, thick texture and a colour palette that feels like someone bottled the last 10 seconds of a cinematic sunset and poured it directly onto canvas.

we’ve affectionately nicknamed this painting mount fuji at sunset, but truthfully? your guess is as good as ours. Could it be the iconic japanese volcano haloed by an orange sun? maybe. Could it just be a maximalist ode to the golden hour in the south of france? also likely.

a sea of yellow dominates the lower half, rippling with energetic waves. The massive orange orb floats in front of what may be a mountain… either way, we’re here for it.

signed on the reverse by sheelah walker, dated 1968. It retains its original vintage wooden frame—tastefully simple, letting the painting do all the talking. Recently cleaned by our paint restorer from the university of amsterdam, the yellowed varnish was whisked away to reveal colour so vibrant it practically flirts with you from across the room.

a perfect mid century piece for anyone wanting a bit of heat and a lot of colour on the wall.
