A fine & elegant antique George III Sterling Silver pint mug or tankard by Jacob Marsh, London 1770.
The tankard of very pleasing plain baluster form, with an inverted rim and raised on a stepped spreading foot, with double c-scroll handle decorated with acanthus leaf decoration to the thumb rest. The tankard has a full set of hallmarks to the base, lion passant for sterling silver, panther's head for London, the date letter "P" for 1770 and the maker's mark for Jacob Marsh "I * M".
The tankard is in excellent condition, no damage or restoration, the tankard is also free from an engraved monogram or name. A wonderful antique 18th century sterling silver tankard, pre-dating the American Revolutionary War by five years!
