Hand-knotted in wool and originating from Russia circa 1910-1920, this 3x4 antique rug is among some of the most intriguing Kazak tribal rugs added to Rug & Kilim’s Antique collections.
On the Design:
This antique Kazak rug is an especially rare piece of its provenance with a distinctive dual-medallion composition and an exceptionally rare palette that diverges from the deeper reds and indigos typically associated with its regional counterparts. Two geometric medallions, rendered in soft sky blue, cream, and warm brown tones, anchor the field with quiet strength. Surrounding them is a scattering of ram’s horn motifs (symbols associated with strength and fertility). Rather than adhering to a strict symmetry, these motifs orbit with deliberate asymmetry, giving the piece a dynamic rhythm that rewards closer inspection. A connoisseur's piece, it would feel equally at home in a curated gallery setting or as the soulful centerpiece of a modern interior.
Condition:
This antique Kazak rug further enjoys good condition for its age and origin.
