This hauntingly moody oil painting of a lone sailboat on a calm midnight sea being guided by moonlight is both alluring and beautiful. It's as if an Edgar Allan Poe poem were captured in seascape painting.
Given its age, there are obvious signs of wear to piece, with some signs of wear to bottom left panel board (see photos). Frame, despite its almost 200 year age, remains in incredible antique condition.
This is an engrossing piece of art easily able to stand alone or within a collection of pieces on a gallery wall.
