The chairs … Read more Nice set of four, country painted Pennsylvania plank seat chairs. Theses chairs were found in Lancaster County Pa. The chairs are circa 1840 and show some wear from use over the years. They are in their second painting. From the wear on them there is older paint, greenish in color, coming thru the tannish brown outer coat. They are painted in design with nice oranges, with green leaves around them. As you can see, the base and backs of the chairs are morticed into the plank seats which are hand chamfered. This is a typical way of making chairs in this period of time. The chairs measure 19"W x 18"D x 31"T. The seats are 17"H. They would be a nice set of chairs in any country motif or shabby chic decor. See less
