Life sized glazed ceramic wrench by master ceramicist Ray Gross. From a series of tools and parts created in the late 1990s/early 2000s. Signed and dated 1999. Can be sold separately.
Ray Gross is known for hand-built, hand-painted, hyper-realistic or whimsical ceramic sculptures depicting objects of everyday Americana, including utilitarian art objects such as paint cans, tubes, brushes, pencils, and tools.
Often playing with scale as understatements and overstatements, Ray’s work involves completely handmade process from the beginning of construction to the final surface details of painting and glazing elements. Each work is unique and one of a kind.
Wrench
Fire engine red and black gloss glaze, with a portion of the underside a white gloss. Handle marked "RIGID", to mimic RIDGID.
