"Aristide Bruant on His Bicycle" (1892) Lithograph on Heavy Paper, Numbered and Stamped with Henri De Toulouse-Lautrec's 3 Letter Initials- HTL. Features expressive figurative linework characteristic of the artist's late-19th century Parisian studies.Rendered in fluid blue lines on toned paper.

This vintage mid-century piece was acquired from an estate in the 1960’s. I am not an art expert, but was told it was a limited edition release, most likely from France. Rare piece to find.

It is framed in a 1 inch gold frame with a terra cotta colored mat. The mat has some slight discoloration.

It is marked # 221 of 375 in the lower left corner. I do not have any paperwork to accompany the piece.

A wonderful addition for collectors of French inspired interiors.

Toulouse-Lautrec's signature "spatter" or "splatter" effect, also known as "crachis," was achieved by spattering ink onto the lithographic stone, creating atmospheric mists of color. He used a brush to create this effect, sometimes using a toothbrush to rake the ink-laden bristles. This technique added a unique textural element to his posters and lithographs, contributing to their vibrant and energetic style.
