A true work of … Read more Stunning Mid-Century Monumental Italian Ceramic Pheasants Sculpture. These hand-painted figural pottery pheasants are quite the showstoppers. A true work of art made in Italy, featuring a pair of long-tailed Chinese Golden Pheasants molded to a grass bocage-like base. They are beautifully glazed in vibrant hues of orange, teal, yellow and gold, with gold gilt covering the raised features of the birds' silhouettes to give them the appearance of glimmering in the sunlight. Numbered "1103" and stamped “Made in Italy” on the underside of the base. The sculpture measures 25.5”L x 8”W x 12”T. I've done extensive research on this piece and I believe this date back to the 1930s-1950s. They are Hollywood Regency style . Great vintage condition.. the top of the taller bird's head feels rough but I cannot tell if it is chipped or if it is supposed to be like that. There is also a small chip on the end of the tail feather on the taller bird (see photos)!
