This exceptional antique Art Deco Wiener Werkstatte wooden linen wardrobe cabinet is circa 1930. The elegant, geometric design in beautiful two-toned wood is impeccably handcrafted from solid beech wood with Macassar Ebony inlay accents. The cabinet features one center door over two dovetailed drawers and two side doors; all doors open on spacious storage with two center shelves and three shelves on each side. All shelves are adjustable and removable. All doors and drawers feature elegant solid wood round ball knobs. All three doors lock with working replacement key. The entire cabinet was designed and built to disassemble into sections and has all original steel assembly hardware. This versatile cabinet and functional showpiece can be used as a clothing armoire or adapted for various uses such as a storage cabinet, china cabinet, bar cabinet, etc. The unique and elegant design of this piece is consistent with the work of Josef Hoffman. Wiener Werkstatte of America stamp on backside.
CONDITION
Very good vintage condition with wear consistent with age and use. An antique appearance with scattered scuffs and scratches, areas of minor veneer loss and chipping especially along top Macassar wood border. Minor scattered repairs to wood and veneer over time. Four shelves are original and four additional shelves have been custom made. Two of the original shelves are slightly warped, but functional. One vertical backside panel is slightly warped, but solidly in place. Replacement key included.
