An exceptional pair of classically shaped 19th Century English mahogany armchairs with sweeping scrolled arms, tightly caned and scooped splat back, curved crest rail and well proportioned splayed legs.
These exquisite, well-crafted and tastefully upholstered beauties are solid and in superb, house-ready condition. They were sourced from a smoke-free and pet-free estate in a small, coastal suburban town on Long Island Sound, which in the 19th and early 20th centuries served as a haven for wealthy Manhattanites traveling there by coach or boat to escape the city’s oppressive heat.
