Jumo 600 lamp.
1st edition - circa 1940-1945.
the oldest version, the most difficult to find.
created by the société nouvelle des etablissements jumo.
company created in the 1940s.
“j u m o” comes from the contraction of the first 2 letters of the 3 creators:
- yves ju-jeau
- pierre & andré mo-unique.
the establishment closed in the 1980s.
these three creators had a simple idea but avant-garde: creating functional, quality and elegant lamps.
their lamps were often found in offices or workshops; therefore, we can place this vintage period design lamp in industrial decoration, industrial heritage.
lighting fixtures whose excellent quality no longer needs to be proven.
in 33 years, they have produced more than 100 models.
the 600 model is often wrongly attributed to charlotte perriand, when she just selected it for the "le bazar" exhibition at the musée des arts décoratifs in paris in 1949.
very beautiful design for this lamp, a very refined, minimalist aesthetic but its false simplicity hides the reflection and work of the designers.
this old light fixture has a remarkable design, with real aesthetic research, a mixture of straight lines and curves combined with shiny and matte chrome.
here the "ball" reflector is completely adjustable.
the base is weighted with cast iron with an integrated switch.
the lamp works perfectly.
here it is the oldest version of the jumo 600, therefore rarer.
some traces of use and wear which are normal for a truly old or vintage lamp which remain rather discreet.
the bulb is not part of the sale.
