Handwoven in wool, this 4’3 x 4’9 textile is a collectible antique tribal bag, believed to originate from Russia circa 1890-1900.
On the Design:
Connoisseurs will note this piece has been opened up, similar to other nomadic Caucasian rugs, Kilims, and even horse covers curated today. This connotes the play of pile and flat weave construction together, as seen in the upper beige half and lower burgundy half with geometric patterns. It’s a rare find in nomadic folk art and primitive textiles, and a piece of history with limitless decorative potential today.
Condition:
This piece enjoys good condition for its age and origin, and is particularly suitable for wall-hanging projects, tables, scatter rug projects and similar decorative purposes.
