Rare 1950s flip top expandable dining table by Greta Grossman for Glenn of California in beautifully refinished condition.
Grossman designed a collection of dining and coffee tables for GoC with a signature floating top. The legs connect to the frame indirectly, leaving space between the top of the leg and the underside of the tabletop. From a distance the top appears to float above the frame.
The original brass hinges, exposed while the tabletop is in square form, compliment the walnut color beautifully.
This piece bears no maker’s mark. Based on our research, none of the floating top tables, whether square or oval, had a GoC placard or sticker. This design is widely attributed to Greta Grossman.
Note: in the dimensions provided below, the height corresponds to the square form. When the leaf is folded out, the tabletop sits 0.75 inches lower.
