Two-piece secretary desk executed in solid red oak with original EA "Coventry" (#240) finish in a soft-gloss reddish brown color. The locking base features a slant-front drop-lid writing surface over three drawers (2 over 1) and is supported by a trestle with trumpet turnings on the legs. Inside are cubby holes surrounding one small storage area behind a hinged wood door. The base has its original hardware, including brass key. The upper section features a bookcase /display cabinet with two adjustable wooden shelves with plate grooves behind leaded, seeded/antique glass and wood-framed doors. The upper section has been modified to include recessed lights (NOT guaranteed to work). The brass pulls on the upper doors were made by EA for the Royal Charter line but are not original to this piece. The two pieces could also be used separately. The upper section could serve as a spice or medicine cabinet. One-owner, non-smoking home.
