of a black dog, a Setter Gordon. It is a pleasant portrait of a hunting dog from the late 19th century.

The antique painting is signed top left Edm Van der Meulen, a Belgian painter

of portraits with animals, still life. Impressionist painter.

Edmond Van der Meulen (1841-1905) studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels.

He loved painting animals and specialised in portraying dogs.

Many paintings by this painter are kept in various museums in Belgium: Ghent, Bruges, Tournai,

Leuven, Brussels. The work has a gilded frame and is coeval with the XIX century painting.

The Old oil Painting and the frame have been carefully and professionally restored.
