A very large floor sculpture known as "asteroid" or "sea urchin," commonly attributed to the curtis jere collective (jerry fels & curtis freiler), active in the united states from the 1960s and 1970s. The work consists of a dense array of stainless steel tubes welded into a spherical sheaf. A sculptural, graphic, and spectacular sculpture, evoking the organic forms of sea urchins or solar explosions. Rare in this xxl format, this piece is both a design object and a work of decorative art from the american mid-century modern movement. ________________________________________
