A hard-to-find 20th-century Burmese lacquerware tabletop decorative box with a highly detailed village farming scene with horses and monkeys in traditional Burmese style on top with red interior. All sides, including the bottom, are hand-painted.
The box is in excellent condition, with minimal wear for its age, and the size is rarely this large. It shows pride of ownership from the previous owner. This piece was recently discovered in the legendary interior designer Lucia Lawrence's private collection and it has been stored in a climate-controlled environment continuously, wrapped in shipping paper.
