Terracotta Bust of Alexandre Brongniart After Jean-Antoine Houdon – French School, 19th Century
A tribute to genius and learned childhood
This bust of Alexandre Brongniart, a child prodigy who became a famous mineralogist and director of the Sèvres factory, is a touching reinterpretation of the famous model sculpted by Jean-Antoine Houdon, the "sculptor of enlightenment" at the end of the 18th century. All the freshness of youth, the softness of the features and the awakened intelligence can be read on the boy's face.
