This is an amazing find. It is a beautifully preserved finely detailed hand made quilt that I've dated to somewhere between 1933 and 1943 (based on when cardinals were adopted by some states as their state bird). It has 48 hand embroidered blocks depicting the state birds and state flowers of all states except Hawaii and Alaska(they did not become states until 1959). In addition to the meticulous embroidery, the entire quilt has been hand pieced and hand quilted by somebody who was a master of this lost art. And, except for a small tear in the Colorado block (see photo) it is in near pristine condition with no fading, tears, stains or missing threads. It measures 91"long and 71" wide. It looks like it would fit a twin sized bed.
Quoted shipping fee DOES NOT apply to Alaska or Hawaii
