Antique 1902 Rookwood Pottery 461 ceramic pitcher by artist Carrie Steinle. A small round-bodied pitcher / creamer with ruffled spout and fixed handle, decorated with a golden green and dark brown ombré, painted under the glaze with yellow coreopsis flower blossoms.
Carolyn Frances Steinle (Carrie) was born in 1871-1944, in Cincinnati, Ohio. She began working at Rookwood pottery at the age of 15 in 1886, but did not begin decorating until the year 1892. She worked in a variety of glazes, including Standard Glaze, Iris, and Vellum. She left the pottery in 1925 to join a convent.
