This chair is a unique prototype from 2010, designed as part of a new series of seats designed to accompany the “V&A” table designed in the same year for the “One Part Chef, Four Parts Design” event, held at Somerset House during its second edition.

Each chair in the series is a unique piece, designed specifically for this series of special events. The structure comes from a single bent and powder-coated metal tube, around which a solid ash wood frame develops, designed to support the seat. The latter is made with wooden slats recovered from ancient Victorian ceilings, the same material used for the table top, in a tribute to historical memory and creative reuse.

The deliberately irregular and slightly unbalanced aesthetic of each chair derives from the strong material contrast between industrial metal and historic wood, combined with an asymmetric composition and deliberately unusual joints. The result is a seat that challenges formal conventions, fusing craftsmanship, contemporary design and material storytelling.
