Franco Fasulo (Italian) 1963-2022 - A Fabulous Colourful Visual Painting entitled 'La Plage' signed and dated 2015. Very small craquelure top right below yellowing in sky as seen in photos.
Franco Fasulo was born in Agrigento, Italy in 1963 and he died on the 5th November 2022. After graduating high school, he took on collaboration as a draughtsman with public and private institutions in the field of archaeology.
At the end of 1980’s, the intense contact with the Classical antiquities induced him to carve through the roots of olive trees a series of sculptures inspired by Greek myths. These works have been exhibited at the SIAL Paris, Salon international de l'Alimentation (1994); at the Fortezza da Basso (1995) in Florence and exhibitions in Sicily many times.
In the mid-1990s, travelling to the coastal countries of the Mediterranean and the Atlantic, he drew inspiration from port environments and began to depict the suggestions he experienced through painting.
His works were presented to the public with the solo exhibition “Il Blu e la Ruggine”, curated by Aldo Gerbino in Agrigento (2001) and at the Palazzo della Permanente in Milan (2002) on the occasion of the national competition Premio Arte Mondadori, in which he obtained second place with the work “Esistenza Nomade”. Subsequently, he exhibited regularly throughout the country. In 2010, the exhibitions “Sicilia- forme | colori a sud” were exhibited in Morbegno at the Chiostro di Sant' Antonio and in Porto Empedocle at the San Gerlando auditorium – Fondazione Camilleri and “Ossidi_Memorie” at the Scotellaro Cultural Space in Vigevano (Pv) curated by Giuseppe Castelli. In 2011, “Marea” was exhibited at the Bookshop in via Volta in Erba (Co). In 2013, the exhibition “Orizzonti” was held at the Pila del castello di Sartirana. “Immanence céleste [Aeronautico è il cielo]” was exhibited in 2014 at the Francesco Siracusa exhibition space in Agrigento, and later at the Air France Headquarters in Roissy (Paris) and at the Artkimia exhibition space in Agrigento. In the same year, the personal exhibition “Ossidi_Memorie” took place in Como, with the patronage of the city of Como at the former church of San Pietro in Atrio, published by Archivio Cattaneo and curated by Marco Ortalli. He has participated in numerous art groups in Italy and in Europe.
His paintings are part of important private collections and headquarters of the following institutions: Cassa nazionale del Notariato in Rome; Cassa provincial deli notai in Agrigento; Fondazione Credito Valtellinese; Comune di Sartirana Lomellina; Osservatorio Arte Contemporanea “Museum” of Bagheria (Palermo); Fondazione Camilleri in Porto Empedocle.
