Features a disc-shaped upper shade in opal glass and a clear glass bowl, held together by a robust steel ring. Inside the lower bowl are two conical rings made of opal glass, resting on frosted ledges within the glass. The fixture is complete with its original metal rod and ceiling canopy. The kg pendant was developed as a swedish competitor to poul henningsen’s ph lamp, and particularly to otto müller’s sistrah fixture. It was an immediate success and was frequently used in public spaces such as schools, warehouses, and government buildings. It was also featured at the 1939 new york world’s fair. The model was available in three sizes: 27 cm, 33,5 cm and the large 42 cm. Kg lindesvärd (1894–1979) was a swedish engineer and industrialist, active in the lighting industry as the long-time owner of the renowned manufacturer bröderna malmströms metallvarufabrik. When the company was dissolved in 1974, it had been producing lighting fixtures for 70 years. This piece has an attribution mark,
